GMCS Middle School Cross Country Teams Shine at NMAA State Meet!

Gallup-McKinley County Schools middle school runners took to the course yesterday in Rio Rancho for the NMAA State Middle School Cross Country Championships, competing in both the large and small school divisions!

Congratulations to all the student-athletes who represented their schools with determination, hard work, and school pride. A special congratulations goes to Tohatchi Middle School’s boys team, which captured 1st place in the Small School Division with a team score of just 59 points!

Today was the final day of the Youth Conference at Thoreau Middle School. To wrap up the fun, students enjoyed a lively band performance and had a talent show. Students, volunteers, and staff all took the stage to showcase their skills. We enjoyed singing, stand-up comedy, dancing, and instrumental performances.

We are so proud of our students for their participation. They made the event entertaining for everyone, and our talented winners were recognized with prizes for their outstanding performances! Thank you to everyone who shared their time and effort to make this conference possible. Opportunities like this leave a lasting impact on our students. They are all looking forward to next year!

The Tohatchi Middle School Mountain Bike Club is excited to once again host the 2nd Annual GMCS Mountain Bike Rally on May 9, 2026, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. We invite you to come out and cheer on the students. This event will bring together student riders from middle school clubs across the district, including Tohatchi, Thoreau, Crownpoint, Navajo, Chief Manuelito, and JFK.
We are also proud to team up with the mechanics and coaches from Silver Stallion Bicycle & Coffee Works to ensure our young riders have a safe experience both on and off the trails. This rally is all about building community, encouraging active lifestyles, and celebrating the hard work and dedication of our students. We hope to see you there!
